Danish-Swedish Farm Dog Drawing

Hey there everyone and welcome to another blog. This is the first dog drawing im working on this year. I spent a lot of time drawing dogs. I am definitely a dog person, and i do really like to work on different breeds, as the colors and fur changes, and that makes each dog difficult and fun to work on. This time around im drawing a Danish-swedish Farm dog. My Neighbours have a dog Like this one, and Ive been meaning to work on one for over a year...

The dog always have one ear straight, and likes to have one Paw up, so i decided to create this frame around the dog to make a nice 3D Effects. After a little sketch it was time for some colors. And i always try to keep it simple with the coloring, but it is basically impossible with drawings like this one. For the eyes i used Sepia, (E37) Dark brown, (E47) Cool Grey 7 and a black marker. For the reflections i used a white gelly roll pen and a grey pencil.

For the fur i used a copic multiliner that is 0,03 mm, its the smallest fineliner i own, and it is a huge help to create tiny hairs! I also like to use it as a guide for me, so i remember which direction the fur is going. For the brown patches of fur i used cotton Pearl (E00) as my base layer. This dog i pretty old, so i had to find the right Color to mimick the faded fur. For shading i used soft sun, (E21) sand, (E33) Sepia, (E37) and the Dark brown. (E47) I did also use the Honey marker (Y38) to get that 'golden' hue from the sunlight. I did also use the place pencil for extra shading, as it helps smooth out the shading

For the nose and mouth i mainly used Cool Grey 7 and the black marker. For detailing i used my white gelly roll pen and the soft sun. (E21) For all of the white fur i used a mix of both Cool and Warm Grey 1 and 3. And with a combination of the Grey and black Pencil i think it turned out perfect. I did go back later on with the cotton Pearl (E00) to add a bit more color to the white patches.

For the Little scarf i used pale olive, (YG95) brown, (E08) soft sun again, (E21) and cool Grey 7. I was looking forward to this Army colored scarf as Ive never draw something like that, and i really think it turned out great. I used a black and white pencil to create the folds/wrinkles.

Towards the end i worked on the name tag and I did Manage to write bailiey (the dogs name) and then this drawing was completed. I think this dog looks Extremely cute with the bright highlights in the Eye, combined with the scarf and frame. I hope you all learned something and that you might draw a dog yourself some day. You can always learn something new by drawing a dog. Have a wonderful week everyone.
