Edwardian Summer Drawing

Hey everyone! Welcome to this weeks blog. The warmer weather is here, so Ive been wearing a lot of different types of clothing these days. I recently wore this specific outfit, and i really wanted to create it on paper. It is heavily inspired by the Edwardian era of menswear, and the jacket i own is actually from around 1920! It was my first piece of clothing that was over a 100 years old when i bought it

This specific outfit have a lot of different colors, and that is one of my favorite things about Vintage summer clothing. Most men out there don't really wear colorful suits or accessories like these anymore, and i do get a lot of compliments when i wear it.

For the face i used my usual pallete when it comes to these illustrations. My base color was a pinkisk white, (R00) and for my shading i used light grape (V91) and pale grape. (V95) I used a blush marker (R20) for the reddish cheeks, and a black pencil for very small shading. For the hair i used dull Ivory (E43) and buttercup yellow. (Y21)

For my boater hat, i also used buttercup yellow, and warm Grey 3, and 5 for the shading. I tried to add a thin Layer of the buttercup yellow as i didnt want the hat to be too yellow, and i think it worked. For the ribbon i used Cardinal (R59) and preussian blue (B39)

I also used the Cardinal marker for the bowtie, and i added the small dots with a 0,5mm white gelly roll pen. For the collage blazer i used the pine tree green, (G29) and i think i squeezed every drop of ink out of it, because i did'nt have a refill bottle, so i actually thought that i was'nt gonna make it

For the stripes, i used the buttercup yellow once again, and cadmium red. (R27)

Since the green is so dark i ended up using my black pencil for shading.

Moving on to the waistcoat... Those of you who follow the post will recognize it from last months drawing as well. It is a golden silk Paisley waistcoat, and its one of my favorite waistcoats, especially in the summertime, where heat sometimes becomes an issue I used the same exact colors as last time, so cadmium yellow, (Y15) Golden Yellow, (Y17) and warm Greys for shading.

For the bag i used chamois, (E35) and light walnut. (E57) I tried to keep it dull/Bland since the rest of the outfit is so strong in color. I also used a white pencil for this.

I struggled with the trousers. Finding the right color was very difficult, and i didnt want to use buttercup yellow again i ended up with a combination of pale lemon (Y000) and brick white. (E40) Two colors that Ive never used before! But i think i got a nice off white look out of it. And for the shading i used my black pencil.

At the end i detailed the piece by adding some Golden ink details to the buttons of the blazer and adding my pocket watch chain and fob on the waistcoat, and then this drawing was completed. I really liked working on this one, because it's not something that i can wear everyday, so im happy that i can look at the drawing every now and then throughout the year. Hope you all enjoyed this blog post, and i will be back with another fun drawing soon. Have a nice week
