Strawberry Drawing
Hi there and welcome to this blog. The summer is almost at its end, so i thought that i would draw one last thing that ive always associated with summer and that is strawberries! Where im from its a summer dessert to eat strawberries with cream and sugar, so i wanted to draw a couple of strawberries together. Last year i made a couple of watermelon slices and i took inspiration from that idea.
I wanted to have one of the strawberries cut open, just to visually have something different for the eye to look at, and it would also make it a bit more of a challenge. After a quick 5 minute sketch i picked out the colors. Believe it or not, but i actually only used 2 red markers for hope drawing. Those being lipstick orange (R17) and Coral. (R35) For the inside of the strawberry i used pinkisk white (R00) and a colorless blender. I went over the edges with the colorless blender several times to make it as smooth as possible, and i feel like it paid off. To make the transition even smoother i used a yellow pencil to gently create a lighter hue. I also used a white pencil of course.
For the outside of the strawberries i used the colorless blender to create the highlights and that worked quite well combined with the white pencil. For the shading i used a warm grey 5 and a blue pencil. On top of the red markers it creates this almost purple Shadow that i personally think makes the entire thing a lot more realistic
For the leaves, i used spectrum green, (G02) apple green, (G14) and Nile green. (G07) I think its a bit funny how i used more greens than reds for this artwork i tried to keep the leaves simple and i only used my white pencil sparringly. This is one of my favorite drawings Ive made all summer, and it is also the last drawing before i move into my new house where a get a much bigger art Studio, so im very excited to get a room thats six times bigger than what i have now, i cant wait to create a lot of different artworks there, and i hope you all stay tuned in for that.
