Daredevil Copic Art
Hello everyone and welcome to this blog post. This weeks post is about my favorite marvel hero Daredevil/Matt Murdock. After finishing the second season of Daredevil Born again, i just knew that i had to draw him. I worked on a drawing of him last year as Matt Murdock, and i knew that i had to draw him in his iconic red costume. Red is also one of my favorite colors to work with when in comes to copic markers. Maybe its becaoi have so many red Markers, but i feel like they blend so well together, so i had a good feeling about this drawing from the beginning.
After a nice detailed sketch i started picking colors. For the red of the suit i used salmon Red, (R05) and Coral (R35) for the lightest areas. I wanted to make him very shiney and i made sure to have completely white parts where i used those two markers around the edges combined with my colorless blender. For the rest of the suit i used lipstick red, (R29) strong red, (R46) Cardinal (R59) cool Grey 7 and a black marker. I really tried to push the contrasts from pure white on the highlight to all black in the shaded areas, and i think it looks amazing.
For the grey fabric between the red armor i simply used cool Grey 5, 7 and a black marker again. For the diamond pattern on the suit and the smaller details in the grey bit, i used a black pencil and a white pencil. I also used my white gelly roll pen for a lot of the scratches on his suit.
For his face i Mainy used warm grey. And ive never used warm grey as a skin tone before, but his character is always in the shadows and i didnt want hos face to look too bright. I used a cotton Pearl marker (E00) for my base layer and when added the different warm Greys on top, but i ended it with a layer of cotton Pearl again, and it looked nice, so i decided to stop there instead of overdoing it.
Daredevil is one of my favorite superheros and im very happy that hes getting yet another season next year! I think i nailed his suit, and i hope you all have enjoyed this art blog. Can't wait to draw him again next year when season 3 comes!
