Golden Rose Drawing
Hi there and welcome to this art blog. This last week Ive looked through some of my old drawings and i realized that i haven't drawn anything 'golden' for some time. It is a bit tricky in the beginning, but not extremely difficult. Therefore i thought it could be fun to try again, and perhaps Teach you all how to create a gold effect with copic markers.
After a loose sketch i picked out the colors. For this Rose im using buttercup yellow (Y21) as my base color. For the Golden tones im using Golden Yellow, (Y17) yellow orche, (YR23) and Honey. (Y38) Im going over the different colors multiple times to get as smooth of a blend, as i can! For my Darkest tone im using a mix of Lionet gold (Y28) warm grey 7, and Sepia E37. It is very important to remember to keep some areas white, as highlights. I do also use a black pencil for the shading, but also for a few details, where i gently create a few Shadows to add some depth, and it almost looks a bit green on top of the Golden tones.
It is also a smart idea to erase your sketch as you color. We don't want any visible outlines that can ruin the 3D illusion. That is why it is key to always Sketch lightly! Towards the end i went over the price again with the Black pencil and the lionet gold.(Y28) I wanted to get a bigger Contrast in the Darkest corners, but after that this drawing was completed. It really is'nt that hard once you get the hang of it. The trick is to take your time as the smoothness of all the Golden tones is what Sells it in the end. I hope you enjoyed this little blog, and that you learned something. Hopefully you are ready to create you own 'Golden' pieces now!
