Whiskey Glasses
Hello there everyone, and welcome to this week’s blog. In today’s blog I’m doing something a little different than usual. I’m drawing the same drawing in three different styles. I thought it would be fun to create a post where you can actually see the different styles you can create using different materials.
For the first one i tried to make it a bit realistic, using the actual colors and shading. All these drawings are about 4-5 cm tall, so they are quite small and that makes it difficult to create details. I used Yellow Ochre, (YR23) Brown, (E04) Chrome Orange, (YR04) and Cardinal (R59) for the whisky itself. That is actually a lot of colors on a 2x2 cm area for the rest of the glass I used cool Greys, and a black pencil, combined with a yellow and white pencil for smaller details.
For the Second glass I decided to only use warm Greys. Now with the first glass done, I could use that as a reference for this one. That made it all a hole lot easier, and I think the second glass ryrmed out great.
For the third and final glass I went with a completely different approach. I’ve done a bit of cross hatching in the past, but it's years ago now, so I wanted to try it with this one. For those of you who dont know cross hatching, it’s a technique where you use different fine liners of different nib sizes and you kind a do this crossing white the lines to add depth and details. It's a bit time consuming but can really create some interesting designs. I actually think it's my favorite of the three glasses
I hope you all enjoyed this little different kind of blog post and learned a thing or two. I might even do a huge cross hatching drawing in the future.
