Watermelon Copic Marker How-To

Hey everyone! And welcome to this weeks art blog. Summer is literally around the corner, so to get in a bit of a summer mood, Ive decided to work on a drawing of some watermelon pieces.

Ive also limited myself to an hour, so i would'nt be spending hours on this drawing. I have done it a few times in the past, and it's a nice challenge and sometimes the 'imperfection' is actually what makes it special in the end.

For colors, i have also decided to only use two tones for each color, for the red i used light Rouge (R14) and coral.(R35)

For the seeds i used cool Grey 7 and a black marker.

For the yellowish part between the red and greens, i used barium yellow (Y00) and Cotton Pearl.(E00) And for the greens i used yellowish shade (YG03) and mignonette.(YG11)

I have also used a white and a yellow pencil for many smaller details and of course a white gelly roll pen for highlights.

Towards the end i choose to give them Shadows, which made them pop, and gave them a 3D effect. For the shadows i used warm greys 1, 3, 5 and 7. I also used a pink pencil to reflect the light coming off of the watermelon.

And then this drawing was completele. It did only take an hour, and im super thrilled with what i got made in such a short time.
