Lady Bug Copic Art

Hey there everybody, and welcome to my art blog. For this weeks blog I’m working on a little drawing of a Ladybug. They are just one of those things that I think about then I think of summer. Since I’m going on a little summer vacation this week, I felt like it was the perfect time for this drawing.

I’m trying to keep it simple, so that it is easy to 'copy' if you want to make your own version of this. So for the coloring im only using two markers for each color. Im using lipstick orange (R17) and carmine (R27) for the the wings. Of course I made sure to keep a little area untouched so that I could use a white jelly roll pen and a white pencil and create a nice shine to the wings. For the body/head I used Cool Grey 5 and a Black marker. I made sure to blend them well to keep it quite smooth.

For the leaf I used pea green (YG63) and a moss (YG67) for the shading. I also used my mechanical pencil and made a few very subtle wrinkles/details in the leaf, that gave it a little hint of realism. I also used a black pencil for extra shading underneath the Ladybug, so it 'popped' a bit more out of the paper... And that was it for this weeks blog. A simple yet pretty Ladybug for you all. I hope you all enjoyed it and continues to have a great summer!
